We started a search for a new venue for ICMI18 last week, and soon identified a London venue that would be perfect, of an equivalent quality to the conference venue we had in London last year, Excel London. That venue attracted much praise from conference delegates, and I’m confident the new venue will likewise. Discussions are going well, and I’m hopeful of being in a position to sign a contract in the next week or two.
This brings me to the important matter of deposits. My thanks to those of you who’ve already paid them. We’ve been seeking £22.00 deposits to give us an indication of likely attendee numbers for ICMI18, and thereby an indication of the conference’s financial viability. By making a deposit you’ll be entitled to an Early Bird ticket, at a cost of £225.00, a saving of £40.00 on the full ticket price of £265.00 (the deposit will be deducted from the Early Bird ticket price, leaving only £203.00 to pay before the end of December).
Most of the people who’ve already paid deposits also attended last year’s conference. But we have yet to reach the minimum number of deposits required to ensure the conference will be financially viable, and we are therefore not yet in a position to sign a contract. The bottom line is this:
If we don’t hit the minimum number of deposits in the next few days, the conference will not go ahead.
It’s that simple. Given the Birmingham conference cancellation, I am determined that we shall hold a conference next year. So I would ask you to consider paying a deposit very soon, today if possible, so I can sign the venue contract in the next week or two. You can do so through this link, the piece also includes provisional conference dates and other details. Deposits will be refunded in full in the unlikely event that the conference doesn’t go ahead.
Thank you for your support. We look forward to welcoming you to the conference next July.
