Followers of this blog will be aware that following the publication of a scurrilous online attack on J4MB by the football blogger Daniel Storey, Birmingham City FC terminated the contract to host ICMI18 without prior discussion, and without having the right to do so under the contract terms. The club’s explanation for the decision was that I had misrepresented J4MB and the event, a blatant lie. And they failed to engage with a considerable volume of material I sent about the party, men’s and boys’ issues, and previous ICMIs.
Has this discouraged us from holding a conference next year? Of course not. It has only strengthened our resolve to hold it, and make it the best conference in the series so far.
We are holding discussions with a London venue of an equivalent quality to the conference centre at Excel London, where ICMI16 was held. That venue received universal praise from conference attendees. We expect to announce shortly that the event will definitely be going ahead, provisional dates are 20 – 22 July, after the end of the World Cup.
We are setting ticket prices at the same level as they were at ICMI16:
- £225.00 (Early Bird ticket)
- £265.00 (Full price ticket, payable in three consecutive monthly instalments if you wish).
Early Bird tickets will be made available to anyone paying before 23:59 GMT on 31 December, whether not they’ve paid the £22.00 deposits which are giving us an indication on final ticket demand. You can pay your £22.00 deposit here:
In the highly unlikely event that the conference doesn’t go ahead, we shall refund your deposit(s) in full.
