A piece in today’s Times.
Angela Merkel, the German chancellor, has invited Ivanka Trump to a W20 Summit, a gathering linked to the economic meetings of the G20 nations that is intended to promote “women’s economic empowerment”, or as we refer to it here at J4MB Towers, “men’s economic disempowerment”. This will be her first trip as a member of her father’s administration.
While I was as delighted as anybody when Hitlery become herstory, I suspected that Donald Trump’s presidency wouldn’t do much (if anything) on men’s issues, and his first 100 days in office have done nothing to allay that suspicion. Rich men tend to care not a jot about the suffering of men as a class, why should Trump be any different?
After radical feminists booted Erin Pizzey out of the first women’s refuge in the world, in Chiswick, in the early 1970s, Erin opened up a number of women’s refuges, an initiative financed by a number of rich men. When she went to them asking for money to fund a refuge for men (alone, or with their children) they refused to give her any support.
