Kathy Lette is reaping what she sowed

Kathy Lette (57) is, according to Wikipedia, ‘an Australian-British author who has written a number of bestselling books’. One of them was published in 2007, How to Kill your Husband (and Other Handy Household Hints). Whenever I’ve seen her on TV, she’s invariably equipped with a wide array of snide anti-male comments, none of them funny.

In yesterday’s Times Diary there was a short piece on her failure to evoke a wolf-whistle from construction workers:

A recent news story about rowdy builders being sacked for wolf-whistling brought back memories of her youth to Kathy Lette, who says she used to wear ‘Amish-style clothes’ to avoid unwanted attention. Now she is 57, though, the novelist admits she misses it.

“The other day, striding past a building site in a miniskirt, I steeled myself – but whistling came there none,” Lette says. “I felt bereft.”

Thinking they had just missed her, she turned round and walked back past the scaffolding. Still nothing.

“At 57 a little attention from a Neanderthal builder wouldn’t go astray,” she tells Woman magazine. “I’d ban wolf-whistling for any woman under 50 but make it compulsory for women over 50.”

Jessica Valenti made a similar complaint about not being wolf-whistled in The Guardian not long ago. These narcissistic bitter harridans are finally reaping what they sowed.

About Mike Buchanan

I'm a men's human rights advocate, writer, and publisher. My primary focus is leading the political party I launched in 2013, Justice for Men & Boys (and the women who love them). I still work actively on two campaigns I launched in early 2012, Campaign for Merit in Business and the Anti-Feminism League. In 2014 I launched The Alternative Sexism Project, aiming to raise public understanding that the sexism faced by men and boys has far more grievous consequences than the sexism faced by women and girls.
